It's been eons since I posted anything. We've been busy with the fishing trips and the gardening and the cleaning of the house (you know - that thorough cleaning that you do every so often), and then the watering and watering and watering and the hotness and then more boating and then the list goes on and on.
It's summer.
I'm busy.
It is what it is.
Don't you just HATE that saying? I sure do! What a useless saying that is. We should all drop that saying for good. K? K.
Anyway, things are spectacular in my garden! I have three million weeds I must pull in the back yard, but it's just been too darn hot and humid to tackle it, which, of course, makes the weeds elatedly and multipliedly (?) happy. In other words, there are three million weeds creating exponentially MORE weeds.
It makes my head hurt to think about all that weeding I'm gonna have to do.
In other world news, we've caught 5 flounders in four fishing trips - not what you would call a large catch, but it's made for some delicious meals!
We had a big party blow-out on our boat for the 4th. Had a dozen people for that and generally had a wonderful evening.
We also got 3 lobster pots! My husband has been toying with the idea for a few years, and he finally went out, took the plunge and bought them! This afternoon we have to carve our numbers on the buoys (we had to get a recreational license to fish for them) and then we'll paint them and the set them maybe tomorrow! Exciting!
On a completely different note, tomorrow I'm going to be a host for the annual garden tour for our city! Not in my own garden, mind you - this is in a different neighborhood with these amazing old-growth perennial gardens, so I'm looking forward to that!
Then finally, today, I actually took the time to photograph some of the amazing things at our house. Most notably, the flower boxes. I can't tell you the number of people who have commented that the flower boxes are always beautiful, but THIS year, they are particularly spectacular!
I, humbly, must concur! They are just something else this year. Really, really something.
Also, one note - our house needs painting, and that's going to happen next week. We hired a person to do two sides of it that get really beat up by the prevailing wind and weather. So, please forgive the chipped paint and generally bad appearance of the house in the photos!
Here we goooooo!
Here is a big boy tomato plant I have growing in the driveway:
It's as tall as I am and I currently have two tomatoes coming along nicely! Exciting!
In the black pot, there, is an amazing cherry tomato that is going to give me approximately 7,853,000 tomatoes! There are a million blooms and more than a dozen baby tomatoes on there already!
I've also got zucchinis and eggplants growing in the flower beds next to our back door!
I KNOW! SO great, right?
I have absolutely no idea why it makes me so excited to grow food, but I'm just ridiculously happy about it!
Like these cucumbers!
I think there is something seriously wrong with me! I'm completely nuts!
Here are the pretty pots by the back door:
(Note the cute cucumbers in front there!)
And now, on to the pieces de resistance!! The FLOWER BOXES!!! Wheeee! I took one photo of each:
Pretty great, right?
Ok. I must go eat. I'm gonna make myself a delicious BLT with turkey bacon and gluten-free bread! I know how to party, right??
Have a good day, all! And enjoy your weekend!
Ciao!

Most gorgeous are those flower boxes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer.
I remember when fishing for flounder with a drop line, the catch was BIG.
Over fishing by those trawlers has made them hard to come by. sigh!
Just wanted to say hi!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching your gardens progress last year, you inspired me this year. Didn't do a lot of planting, but I did more than I ever have since I've been here for 4 years. It feels more like home this year. Thanks for that.
Love the flower boxes!

Your flowerboxes are breathtaking. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to catch lobster. We just had a bunch of snapper which were really good on the grill.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your baby cucumber. I just discovered I have some sort of worms on mine! I'm pissed. I think they are called pickleworms. I'm not sure if they can be killed. Sound like tough buggers.
