Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year!
My best friend, June (not her real name...those of you who know us will know her as "Fuzzy") and I are going to a fancy schmancy dinner tonight and then possibly to a bar with some of her peeps afterward.
I will be more posty after I get home - going to be home later Monday evening. Cannot WAIT to reunite with my poor baby Dallas who, apparently, is rather miffed that I have left for such an extended period...He has commenced to peeing in the house again and even pooed in the house! Ack!
So, I'm looking forward to getting home and getting back into the routine of things, but I must admit? This vacation stuff is FUN!! her heee!
Have a safe and fun night, all...
Namaste!
Talk to you next year! : )

Over here at June's
So, I didn't really post much the last week or so - sorry about that. Been traveling! Was in Georgia for 6 days visiting relatives for Christmas and then am now in North Carolina with my best friend June of Bye, Bye Pie fame and fortune!
Needless to say I've been having a bit of fun here with June and her doggies! Annnnd, it just so happens that she got a new little mite of a baby kitty today! During my visit! And I am babysitting! June got her kitty and then sadly had to go back to work for a few hours!
I am nuts over her baby kitty! Please enjoy the veeedeos I've taken of June and Iris Frost and then one of Iris playing with her toys for the first time! ACK!

Christmas Trees From Around The World...
I loved this! Hope you do too!
I didn't know a lot of this! What's really interesting at the end is the real meaning of the 12 days of Christmas.
The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington , D.C. , is decorated with 3,000
ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling
evergreens in the 'Pathway of Peace' represent the 50 U.S. states.
The world's largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopesof Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy 's Umbria region.
Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire,
the 'tree' is a modern marvel for an ancient city.
A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo 's nighttime neon display is
projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.
Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague 's Old Town Square ,
and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous
Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains
in the southern Czech Republic .
Venice 's Murano Island renowned throughout the world
for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree
in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone
Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern
reflection of the holiday season.
Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox
calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with
festivities in anticipation of Father Frost's arrival on his magical
troika with the Snow Maiden. He and his helper deliver gifts under
the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.
The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall)
can be found in the Praça do Comércio in Lisbon , Portugal .
Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special
enchantment of the city during the holiday season.
'Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree': Even in its humblest attire,
aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany 's Karwendel mountains,
a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.
Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic. With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and
high fashion, it's no surprise this show-stopping department store draws
more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
In addition to the Vatican 's heavenly evergreen, St. Peter's Square
in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.
The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol
is dressed for a party. Madrid 's two-week celebration makes
millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen
will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world's biggest lottery.
A token of gratitude for Britain 's aid during World War II,
the Christmas tree in London 's Trafalgar Square has been
the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.
Drink a glass of gluhwein from the holiday market at the Romer
Frankfurt's city hall since 1405 and enjoy a taste of Christmas past.
Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of
Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown).
CHRISTMAS AT ARLINGTON CEMETERY
Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...
Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine . The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
Please share this with everyone on your address list. You hear too much about the bad things people do. Everyone should hear about this.

A Christmas Story!
This was written by a good friend's 81 year old relative. This is really something!! It is her Christmas "newsletter" she sent out for 2011...

Enjoy and giggle!!
Here it is:
'Twas the night before Christmas - Old Santa was pissed.
He cussed out the elves and threw down his list.
Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks...
I have a good mind to scrap the whole works!
I've busted my ass for damn near a year,
Instead of "Thanks, Santa" - what do I hear?
The old lady bitches cause I work late at night,
the elves want more money - the reindeer all fight.
Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids,
Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS.
And just when I thought that things would get better,
Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter!
They say I owe taxes, if that ain't damn funny!
Who the hell ever sent Santa Claus any money?
And the kids these days, they all are the pits.
They want the impossible, those mean little shits!
I spent the whole year making wagons and sleds,
Assembling dolls , their arms, legs and heads
I made a ton of yo-yos, no request for them,
they want computers and robots, they think I'm IBM!
Flying through the air, dodging the trees,
Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees,
I'm quitting this job, there's just no enjoyment
I'll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment!
There's no Christmas this year - now you know the reason,
I found me a blonde, I'm going SOUTH for the season!!
(And please don't email me and tell me that the line about AIDs isn't funny. I know it's tasteless - it's a JOKE. Not meant in the LEAST to make light of a terrible disease...So, please, don't waste your effort telling me...I KNOW! It's a harmless joke. Jeeez!)
OK. I gotta go! Dinner party for 11 tonight!
Ciao!

Study Finds Link Between Red Wine, Letting Mother Know What You Really Think
NOVEMBER 28, 2008 | ISSUE 47•47 ISSUE 44•48
Just three glasses with dinner can support finally letting her have it.
CHICAGO—Health experts have long known that drinking red wine can have such positive benefits as reducing blood vessel damage, lowering the risk of heart attack, and preventing harmful LDL cholesterol from forming. But researchers at the Northwestern University Department of Preventive Medicine have recently found that the consumption of four to six glasses of red wine, most notably at dinner or a family function, may be linked to totally going off on one's mom.
According to a study published Monday in The American Journal Of Medicine, a previously unknown ingredient in red wine has been shown to cause a marked improvement of vocal clarity and emotional acuity—while reducing overall inhibition—after only four glasses.
During routine trials, subjects who imbibed five glasses or more showed a remarkable increase in specific mental functions, such as the ability to recall every time their mothers had been unsupportive of their boyfriends or husbands.
A striking reduction in the time needed to translate personal epiphanies into loud, public epiphanies was also noted.
"It seems the benefits of red wine consumption are virtually limitless," said Dr. Susan Zheng, lead researcher on the study. "Many were unable to recall a single time their mother had paid more attention to their sister's soccer games than to their starring role in the school play. But after drinking only one bottle of standard Merlot, these participants could not only remember, but could actually sing whole stretches of Annie Get Your Gun, even while sobbing. It's extraordinary."
Dr. Zheng explained that the 100 women who participated in the study were split into two groups. One group was seated at the end of a long dinner table and subjected to backhanded compliments about their housekeeping abilities while steadily imbibing 8-ounce glasses of Turning Leaf Cabernet. The other group, a control group, was allowed to celebrate the holidays at home.

The positive effects of wine consumption were seen in as little as three hours, with 86 percent of participants showing greater resistance to unsolicited career advice, 77 percent displaying increased mental function in the area of the brain devoted to reminding you why Dad left you in the first place, and 60 percent demonstrating less concern to "play this little happy-happy game anymore."
Subsequent tests revealed that, if the wine is consumed prior to dinner or on an empty stomach, the benefits are increased nearly tenfold.
"I highly suggest every woman between the ages of 21 and 39 allow a few glasses of wine to be a part of their healthy diet," Dr. Zheng said before pouring herself the remains of an open bottle. "But what do I know. I'm just the lead researcher for an entire team of Northwestern grad students who look to me for the answer because I'm their boss. All my achievements are irrelevant because I never had any kids, right, Mom? Right?"
The long-term advantages of red wine consumption have also been noted among the well-adjusted and insightful people of France, where a bottle of claret is a regular part of mealtime from a much earlier age. In a recent survey conducted in the town of Saint-Florentin, researchers were unable to find a single person over the age of 20 who had not already reaped the benefits of letting loose on the soul-sucking banshee who brought you into this world just to torture you with endless comments about your hair and dress.
However, medical experts are quick to point out that red wine is not, in itself, sufficient to promote a healthy psyche. Similar positive effects have been found in other food and drink items, such as White Russians, vodka tonics, Canadian Club whisky with flat ginger ale, and anything served at a wedding.
"Thus far, we have been unable to determine any negative effects of increased wine consumption," said Dr. Hugh Van Pelt, also with the Northwestern team. "Some women have reported feelings of nausea and headaches the following morning, but they said these feelings were no worse than the nausea and headaches they felt for the days leading up to the dinner, so the results are inconclusive."
The Northwestern team is currently in the process of securing funding to determine what ingredient in bourbon enables one to finally wrestle one's stepfather to the ground.

Another giggle for you!
Tequila Christmas Cake recipe...
Ingredients:
1 stick of butter
1 cup of water
1 t. baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 t. salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups dried fruit
Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check tequila again. To be sure it's of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point, it's best to make sure the tequila is STILL ok. Try another cup - just in case. Turn off the mixer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the frigging fruit up off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried fruit gets stuck in the beaters just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the tequila to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar or somefink...Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.
Bingle Jells!!!
Ho ho ho!! : )

Your giggle for the day!
I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.
I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.
One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
I may have been in Continent, but I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.
PLEASE DO YOUR PART!
Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year. You can do your bit by remembering to send an e-mail to at least one unstable person. My job is done!
I hope everyone is happy in your head (It's the voices man) we're all doing pretty good in mine!

Utter weirdness. And I love it.
This strange video, of course, comes via my bestest friend's blog, Bye, Bye Pie.
My mother, no doubtedly will just shake her head and wonder where she went wrong...
Same thing with my adoration of Pee Wee Herman. And my crush on Donald Sutherland. She just shakes her head and then looks at me with a giant question mark hovering over her head!
To each their own, right?
I think this is very cute! Hope you likey too!

Dallas, the World's Best Paper Shredder
So, my adorable doggie? He has a thing for paper. And tissue. And toilet paper. And newspaper. And paper paper.
HE ADORES shredding stuff. ADORES it! Forgoes toys or chewies or anything that normally would be preferable to paper! Paper paper paper. Shredding and then savoring some of the more disgusting gloppy parts. ICK! It's totally disgusting! And hilarious to watch!
I wanted to capture a video of him in action DOING the shredding, but was not fast enough with my camera today. But, the aftermath is pretty hilarious, as it is! : )
So, here are some of the recent pictures of my beloved and then a couple short videos of Dallas for your viewing pleasure!
I'm busy wrapping gifts today. Oy.
Merry Ho Ho and all that to you!

New pretties
Girrrrll, I have been BUUUSSSSYYYYY!!
Wowza!
Business is booming, my friends! : ) Yipppeee and Yahooooo!
I've been having a blast working side by side with my bestest little friend, Adam, who is an incredible designer himself! We work very well together and he tolerates my bossiness and perfectionist tendencies!! Thank goodness SOMEONE can tolerate it!
hee heeeee!!
So many pretties to show you and some that I can't because I forgot to take pictures! OOO, that reminds me - I have a new thing I just completed. I'll go photograph that now before my client comes to get it...
This year, for the first time, I've been hired to do some corporate gifts! Very cool, indeedy! So, one of the things I just did was the most adorable herb garden you've ever seen:
Cute, no?
I've also done up three billion wreaths and done a few jillion flower boxes and planters!! See?

I also did my own wreath - which may well be the most favorite thing I've ever done! I'll have pics here soon - it's too dark out and the light is unflattering on it right now.
So, I'm having my friend over for dinner in a few minutes - leftover manicotti from a dinner party I had last night! YUMMMMM!
I will leave you with a wonderful, terrible pun:
What do you call two mushrooms on holiday?
Fun guys
Heee!!
Ciao for now! : )

This year, for the first time, I've been hired to do some corporate gifts! Very cool, indeedy! So, one of the things I just did was the most adorable herb garden you've ever seen:
I've also done up three billion wreaths and done a few jillion flower boxes and planters!! See?

I also did my own wreath - which may well be the most favorite thing I've ever done! I'll have pics here soon - it's too dark out and the light is unflattering on it right now.
So, I'm having my friend over for dinner in a few minutes - leftover manicotti from a dinner party I had last night! YUMMMMM!
I will leave you with a wonderful, terrible pun:
What do you call two mushrooms on holiday?
Fun guys
Heee!!
Ciao for now! : )

Another GEM by Lisa Bloom. As stolen from the Huffington Post!
By Lisa Bloom.
I'm in the makeup room at CNN, getting mascaraed and blow dried by two hip young makeup artists. And I do mean artists: women who can paint on perfect Cleopatra eyeliner faster than you can say Wolf Blitzer; who can morph my frizzy hair into ready-for-my-closeup sleekness while simultaneously de-shining Piers Morgan.
Each of these women is her own amazing art project. One has an entrancingly shiny, swingy copper-hued bob; the other, a tiny, twinkling nose ring and elegantly pencilled brows. Style? they've got it in spades. I gawk.
We talk about the news stories I'm there to cover today, and I tell them I appreciate the attention they're lavishing on me, so that I will look presentable on Dr. Drew. I throw out that I'd be delighted if they made me look half as beautiful as them.
One looks at her sweet little face in the mirror, frowns and says, "ugh, I look like crap today." Another rolls her eyes, then looks down. "I have twenty-five pounds to lose before I can even look at myself."
Stop the airbrushing! Stop the flat ironing! Alert! Alert! We have just entered the can't-take-a-compliment zone. Please, ladies, can we evolve to a higher consciousness on this issue?
I can't stand it when women can't receive kudos properly. And in my humble opinion, that's about 95 percent of us. Most of us elect to find fault with ourselves when someone is sincerely pointing out something positive. Girlfriends, can we learn once and for all to absorb the loveliness of a compliment? Don't trash the moment. Bask in it.
This may take practice. Because knowing how to receive kind words is a skill you'll need throughout your life, and this weird habit of insulting ourselves when someone is praising us has got to stop. Now. (Especially if you're doing this in front of your daughter.)
Let's role play. I say: "You look beautiful today!"
Beginner Level: Acceptable response: Swallow the no-I-don'ts, the flaws list you're ready to rattle off, and say this and only this. "Thank you." Practice this in the mirror. You can do it. I know you can. "Great sweater!" "Thank you." "You been hitting the gym?" "Thank you." "Nice hair cut!" "Thank you."
That's it. No more. After "thank you," button it. I can't stop you from mentally putting yourself down, but please, don't verbalize it.
Because where does all this self-hatred come from? The multibillion dollar beauty-industrial complex, which programs you to feel ugly and deficient, constantly, so that you spend money you don't have for bogus "problems" they've created to profit off your insecurity. Like, say, for those new pills that will supposedly give you thicker eyelashes. Swallowing chemicals designed to grow thicker hair around my eyeballs? Can't imagine THAT having any weird side effects, right? No thanks, Big Pharma. Or Ped Eggs. Really? I will not be cheese-grating my feet today, tomorrow, or any day, sorry. I earned those callouses climbing mountains. They stay. (Can you imagine anyone trying to sell Ped Eggs to men? Hah! Men complain about shaving, for heaven's sakes.)
You don't need this garbage. (And when I'm not on TV, I go easy on the cosmetics, because life is short, makeup and hair and nails are time-consuming, and I would rather be reading a book or Tweeting. Apart from the expense, this stuff consumes our valuable time, time better spent thinking, dreaming, imagining, connecting with our world, as I advocate in my book, Think: Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed Down World.)
You don't need the self-deprecating attitude about your face, hair and body our culture drums into you. It doesn't serve you. Release it. You just need a girlfriend's genuine go-girl words praising one of your strong suits. When you're lucky enough to get a compliment, drink it up, because there are enough bad moments in life without your creating one when something kind is going down.
So let's move up to the intermediate compliment-receiving level. I notice a tattoo peeking out of your tank top. "New ink? Wow! Love it!" Give me a nice smile, taking in the compliment. "Hey! Thanks!" Gin up some authentic enthusiasm for this bit of girl-love that's been tossed your way.
Expert level: I say: "Oh my God, look at you! You are just glowing today!" Stop. Look in the mirror. See yourself through my eyes. See the beauty that I am seeing. Ignore the rest and focus on your best feature: radiant skin, bright eyes, that vintage scarf you wrap just so. I'm right! You are rocking it. Pimples or extra pounds or too small this or too big that -- whatever. Who cares? Be present in this moment. Let it feed your spirit. (Yes, I am a yogi.) Repeat to yourself the words of India.Arie: "What God gave me is just fine." Feel beautiful. Because you are, girl. In twenty years you'll look back at pictures of yourself today and see this. Why not choose to see it now?
And for extra credit: how about we compliment our girlfriends on something besides their appearance today? "I love how you handled your toddler. Whew! I wish I had your patience!" "Your report was so thorough. I learned a lot from reading it." "Great creative problem-solving. I really enjoy how you think outside the box." "You worked the graveyard shift AND you're still smiling? Damn girl, I don't know how you do it!"
This holiday season, let's give praise for our sisters' brains, efforts, compassion, sass, grace and verve.
Now that's beautiful.

Wet Doggie
This is a poem written by a dear friend of mine about Dallas' recent adventure into the ocean!
Here's the cutie patootie in action last evening! CUTE!
Dallas thinks he’d like to swim
It’s simple, right? You just jump in.
It’s not so simple, Dallas-doggie
You’re not a spaniel, or a froggy
Your leap of faith was quite impressive
But before you consider it successive
You’d best prepare and learn to float
Or take a trip or two by boat
No more scares for owner-person
Who was frightened by your rash immersion
Practice makes success more likely
Or perhaps you’d rather learn to bikely?

Too beautiful not to share
Just got back from walking The Fearless One!
He spent this walk attached to my hip, for obvious reasons! He had no interest in being anywhere but safely next to momma this time!! : )
We walked down to the Salem Ferry landing. And it was stunningly beautiful.
Fog was rolling in from the open ocean, sun was bright and sky was blue blue blue.
Pictures speak for themselves, and a short video at the end:

Dallas The Fearless Flying Doggie
Oh, boy.
I've got my HANDS FULL, kids. Really full.
Mr. Dallas, the cutie patootie?
Well, yesterday morning we were walking on the dock where we keep our boat in the summertime. Of course, at this time of year there are very few boats left in the water, so the dock is all but empty right now. We've been down there a number of times before, as I deemed it a "safe" place to let him off the leash - he can run about without fear of cars or him bolting up a street (which he has done before!)...
Oh, boy.
Well, turns out Mr. Dallas has a "chase" instinct. He saw a duck take off and head out toward open water. So, what did he do? He took off toward open water.
And then?
PLOP! SPLASH!
Into the drink he went!
HOLY SHITBALLS!
Well, of course, Mr. Dallas spent the first two years of his life chained outside in Tennessee. He has then been in foster care in Tyngsboro, MA for the last 2 1/2 months and then? With me.
He has never swum before. So, it was a very scary moment for me. I saw what was going to happen, and there was NOTHING I could do to stop it....
So, I ran after him, fearful that he was going to drown! I was sooooo scared. And so was Dallas. He was treading water, but barely. Not really swimming so much as just trying to keep his head above water.
Luckily his instinct to get back onto the dock was strong, so he stayed near the dock. I was able to grab his collar and then drag all 70 of his pounds right up onto the dock on top of me.
I was soaked. He was soaked. We were both in total disbelief!
Dallas, of course, took off like a shot again, going the opposite direction toward home...I was screaming for him to come back. And I couldn't run - the adrenaline shot that went through me to be able to lift his dead weight from the water had died off and I was left basically in a puddle on the dock. I couldn't run after him, and luckily, he turned and saw that I wasn't playing...
So he came running right back to me. He fell on me and we stayed there for a minute so I could gain my composure to walk him back home...
He kept looking up at me and then wiggling and shaking off the water! He wanted to run and run, but he knew I was spent!
What an ordeal.
Needless to say, I will not be walking him there again this morning or anytime soon. Good GOD!
So, that's the story of Dallas the Fearless, Flying Dog! : )
Now, I will leave you with a pretty video...Click HERE.

Thanksgiving and the cutie patootie Dallas!
Happy Thanksgiving errr-body!!
Have a great day! I must commence to cooking (again - I started at 10am yesterday...spent 3 hours putting together gorgeous flower arrangements for the house and then finished cooking at 6:30pm!! I made stuffing, cranberry/orange sauce and a homemade pumpkin pie! I was totally pooped!). Today am making turkey, stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes!
I am thankful today for all the wonderful people I have in my life, a few in particular who know precisely who they are...M, A, B and K...
And I am thankful for my crazy baby boy doggie, Dallas, who - despite the fact he has peed in the house three times in the last three days (ACK!) - is adorable, sweet, funny and smart! He brings much joy to my life!
Enjoy the video from this morning! Happy Thanksgiving!

How to properly start a day:
Look at this ridiculous scene this morning in my bed:

Can you even imagine how cute Dallas is UPSIDEDOWN? He loves loves loves nothing more than rolling onto his back so I can rub his belly and his elbows. He closes his eyes so tight and just drinks it all in. He is such a love.
JACKPOT DOGGIE!!
I have three billion things to do today, so I will wish you all a very happy Friday!
Ciao!
