Flowers flowers flowers and MORE!

Ok. I worked and worked and worked doing up some pretties today. Also FINALLY got the rest of my vegetables planted, harvested lettuce, planted more herbs and generally had a wonderful but tiring afternoon!

I also FINALLY took pictures of my gorgeous flower boxes today. They are SPECtacular already and they've only been a little over two weeks! So, that's huge to me that they're already so pretty and full-looking! In a month they will be obsurdly beautiful!

Lots of photos for the enjoyment of your eyeballs today!

Let's get to it, shall we?

The romaine lettuce I harvested:
I still have three more growing AND this does not include the three heads I gave to our upstairs neighbor! Lots o' lettuce!

The flowers I did up by our back door and then see that pot on the left? Those are pickling cucumbers that I'm growing!!

The tall thing with the pretty flowers is cilantro that I let go to seed! So tall! So pretty! There's a new cilantro in there, as well, two small dill plants and a pretty flowering thyme. There's also cat-grass that I've let get very tall - it's been in there since early March!Oh, and that is my beloved watering can and my two favorite pairs of gardening gloves.

One of the garden beds by our parking area. See the odd-looking plant there on the right? That's zucchini! And the other one on the left? Eggplant!! There is another bed on the opposite side of the door with the same goodies growing! So exciting!

One of the side yard garden beds. I spent a ton of time earlier this week trimming back the holly bushes and the lilacs there. I also hacked back the big Montauk daisy on the corner. I guess you're supposed to do that before July 4th and then they won't get so big that they collapse like mine did last year. So, we'll see what happens!
I also put in a bunch more annuals today - there is angelonia in white and purply-pink, sweet alyssum in the same colors, white Mexican heather and lavender verbena. Pretty pretty!

This is the front corner of the house. 3 billion people per year take a photo of that corner of the house since is has our historic plaque on there telling people how old the house is and who built it! So, I like to make it extra pretty.More angelonia and alyssum there and then I added those two, pretty variegated nasturtiums! LOVE those leaves! So unusual! There is also a dwarf, giant King Tut papyrus lurking in there - should look amazing by mid-summer!

The other side garden bed where I added the verbena and Mexican heather. Should look good pretty soon!

And now? The prettiest flower boxes I've EVER done for myself!! I'm so in love with these this year I just can't look at them enough!

I have approximately 762 plants in each flower box!! hee! Just kidding, but I really did pack them out this year! We have a mixture of the same papyrus, white angelonia, purple angelonia, yellow argyranthemum, dark purple verbena, lavender brachyscome, white bacopa, purple calibrachoa and a lavender verbena.

Can you tell I'm into purple this year?!!

Ok. I've gotta run - hope you're all having a fabulous Friday! Happy weekend, all! : )

Wacky weather Wednesday

Well, the weather isn't wacky today so much. Today is one of those picture-perfect-wish-we-could-clone-this type days. Utter perfection. About 70, perfectly sunny, no humidity and simply delightful!

Yesterday? The day before? The day before and the day before that? Not so much. Rain, mist, cold, windy, gross and mostly just completely unpleasant in every way. YUCKO!

And, I know I've been quite remiss about this here blog, but for VERY good reason. As I mentioned in the last posting, I have been knee-deep in a huge, huge garden doing perennials, annuals, pots, planters - everything you can imagine for a giant garden. It's been great doing it, but really exhausting. Luckily we are nearing completion and I'm really hoping the owner will let us photograph everything. We did a huge vegetable garden, as well, on this property. Really something else!

In the meantime, I had promised you all photos of the pretty garden I've been working in for the last 4 years. I have moved a zillion plants, re-designed the whole thing, added a zillion perennials, weeded, trimmed, shaped and basically created this gorgeous shaded paradise! I love love love being in this garden because it's very serene and it flows perfectly from front to back. I did up the annuals a few weeks back and they are already also looking spectacular!

So, let's see, shall we?

The view from the front gate:That trellis in the way back on the right has a small white wisteria that I planted last year under it...I'm hoping it'll really take off this year!

The planter out front:In all of the containers this year, I used torenia, lamium, begonias, dracaena and solanum.

The hanging baskets:

The gorgeous planter by the deck:
Isn't that just something else?

And then one more shot of the whole garden.

I'll go back this week or early next week to see if the peonies have bloomed and to do a bit of maintenance, as the owner is away for this week and next. I do adore going over there and seeing the fruits of my labor! So fun!

So, here I go to change into some more comfortable duds and then maybe I'll do a bit of planting in my own yard! What a novel idea! Yesterday I cleared out two entire yard waste bags full of overgrown lilac branches and holly branches and other crud that had taken over the side garden. It looks worlds better, but a little bare, so I did buy some annuals and a pretty perennial boltonia to go out there. Also got some beautiful blue-colored corydalis for the back yard! I'm a big, big fan!

Ok. I'm outta here!

Hope all is well with you and yours!

Ciao!
