Words by which to live

The difference between Knowledge and Wisdom:

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting tomatoes in a fruit salad.

I will be showing you some pictures of this amazing garden that is just up the street from my Dad's house in New Port Richey, FL.

There is a man there, Jim Kovaleski, who is a magical green thumb gardener. He uses his techniques to work with nature to create the most gorgeous organic vegetable gardens you've ever laid your eyes on. His farm, which provides food for restaurants and citizens of New Port Richey, is called Freedom House Farm, and it is one of the most special places I've ever visited.

His tender care of all things living was really something to behold and I was thrilled to be able to spend a couple hours with him and his lovely Mother (who, incidentally, lives a block away, and her entire yard is also dedicated to growing these gorgeous foods for the community).

He will be giving a workshop in Portsmouth, NH this May (which is supposedly filled, but I'm going anyway!) about permaculture and how it fits into the world. Organic, local and sustainability are the basic tenets of his garden practices. The joy he gets from creating and caring for these gardens is utterly contagious! I was there easily 4 times during my short visit to my Dad's!

Here's a brief preview of the beauty of these amazing gardens:

If you're ever in that part of the world, look up Freedom House Farms. You won't be sorry.

Extreme giggliness

Ok. This made me cry I was laughing so hard!

I was in Florida for the past week soaking up the sun, visiting my parents and generally misbehaving. I'm good at that lately!

Good news? I met an amazing man just before my trip. We had a ten hour first date that goes down in the history of mankind as the best first date EVER! We talked for at least an hour or two or three (not kidding) every day while I was gone. Really quite something, this guy. I'll tell you more as the story unfolds, but long story short? Seeing him tomorrow and then again Tuesday for a date to the SYMPHONY!! ACK! I'm so excited!

OK. Now, onto some of the most clever fake words ever...Enjoy!

Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again invited readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

12. Decafalon (n): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

13. Glibido: All talk and no action.

14. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

15. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

17. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.
