Much much to report!

So, I know. I've been quite remiss in the whole bloggity world over here. SORRY! Busy does not even COVER it to describe what's been going on over here. Ridiculous and stupid and crazy and zooooooooommmmmmmmm! That about covers it. Sort of.

Been going here there, over hill, dale and valley and then back again. Working, getting the house together for the fall - having work done here - like put in a new door in the bar, decorated for our big Halloween Bash (which is tomorrow eve!! woo hooo!), we're having the house re-sided in one area and then having it painted. I've also been luckily quite busy with MY gardening biz (Yay!) and doing the fall cleanups and plantings like crazy. Got a big development to hire me to do the yard and then I also did the staging for the first unit that is going on the market! The first open house is tomorrow - so I just got that done this week too!!

In the midst of everything else, I also went to Michigan to see my 90 year old grandma! I adore her. I adore every little smidge about her except for the part where she's seeing imaginary people in her house...Dementia is an odd thing. But, she certainly remembered me and we had a giggly good time together. I just love her! And, bonus? I got to see my Dad and his wife (whom I adore) and then my two Uncles, my one Aunt and one of my cousins!

OOOO, and very excitingly, I got to hang out with Hulk of Bye, Bye Pie fame and fortune! We had a high old time watching the sports in Michigan! Between the Tigers, the Lions, U of M and then Hulk's beloved Ohio State game, we had LOTS to watch at the new Buffalo Wild Wings there in Saginaw! Oh, it was a grand grand time and he's funnier and waaay cuter in person than on the BBP blog! Just so you ladies know!!! Heee!!!

I also got to hang out with my best pal June's Momma!! She's a wonderful woman and she spent all morning with me the 2nd day that I was in Saginaw! She took me to a yummy breakfast at Fuzzy's (yummo!) and then she carted my arse all over Saginaw to see some of my old haunts, like the house where I spent my first 6 1/2 years of life until my rotten parents (Hi Mom! Hi Dad!) uprooted me and made me move away from my beloved June up there of Bye, Bye Pie. I was so sad to leave my bestest friend that I got an ulcer! Can you believe it? A little person of not even 7 years old and I had an ulcer from the upset of leaving June. I think I might be over it now, but I'm really not sure!! heee!

I've also been up to my friend Penny's for dinner (she, by the by is a VERY talented artist - and if you have not been to her blog, please do! She's incredible!), I've also had several nice lunches and dinners with good friends and have been generally trying to get back into the world after being so sad and bogged down after our puppies passed away.

Sooo, let's get to some photos of my trip to Saginaw, some of the things I've done recently (including making an "owl" pumpkin for a client today!) and then some pictures of my friend Penny's ADORABLE hound, Ellie Mae, and the wild turkeys that torture Penny in her yard!!

Here is the house where I grew up in Saginaw:

The house where JUNE grew up! It used to be red! The green is ACK!!

Here is a job I did for a restaurant in Peabody called Raices:
The food there is SOOO good. I love their empanadas. Yumm.

Here's the pumpkin I did today! My client really loves owls, so I did this for her!

Almost done!

Final product replete with candles inside to light him up!Very cute, no? Totally stole it from a thing I found online by Martha Stewart!! I'm certainly not above copying others!! : )

Last, but absolutely NOT least, is Ellie Mae. My friend Penny and Matthew's dog. Oh my my my. You have never seen such a facey face on a doggie pie.
I love this dog. She is a soulful creature and is funny funny and "talks" all the time in her howly, baying way. She talks to Penny, she talks to Matthew, she TELLS them ALLLL about it! "I wanna waaaaallllk!" or "I am huuuunnnnggggrrrrryy!" "Time for dinnnnerrrrrrrrrrr!!" Woo WOO WOOOOO!

Ooo, I just love this dog! Penny's blog is filled with amazing illustrations of Ellie involved in all sorts of her adventures. Really sweet and wonderful. You should really check it out!

Here are the turkeys that haunt the yard!
They descended upon the birdfeeder in a swarm! There were like 20 or more of them! Ack!!

And the piece de resistance? Ellie Mae telling Penny all about it:

  2. It is amazing at the size of the houses many of us grew up in, they didn't seem small at the time, but now...

The owl pumpkin is great! The eyes are fab, I would have never been that creative.

  4. Those houses are so cute! I love how yours looks like a little cottage in the woods. So cute. It's hard to believe my mom raised 5 kids in the house we grew up in. My brother was on a pull out couch for many years and only one bathroom. We had a half bath in the garage but all the girls hated to go out there!

  5. How our perspective changes with age. What I thought was a huge backyard as a child, shrunk considerably when I saw it again as an adult. The same goes for the very small house where, like Anita's, five children lived. It seemed spacious enough at the time. No wonder we spent so much time playing outdoors.
