This was the most special video I've seen in ages.
WOW.
Growing up, I either wanted to be Jacques Cousteau and work with whales (which I did for 20 years) or I wanted to be Jane Goodall or Diane Fosse and work with chimpanzees or gorillas... That was it. Those were the three things. I got to do one of them, but...in a way, I still long for the other two. I'm a selfish gal! And I want it all!! So, this video or "veeeeedeo" as my friend June over there at Bye, Bye Pie would say, totally blew my socks off. Holy SH*T! What I wouldn't give to have this experience? Wowza.
Enjoy...Just wow. Wow. I would die happy...

What an amazing experience that must have been! There are very few people who have had a juvenile mountain gorilla groom them. And I would love to hear more about your background with the whales. I, too, have always been fascinated by the pioneering primatologists and oceanographers. I guess I owe National Geographic thanks for that. I've had a chance to hear Jane Goodall speak on several occasions and met Diane Fossey once when she was in the States on a book tour a few years before her tragic death. Remarkable women both! Did you ever hear the heartbreaking story about Flo and her baby?
ReplyDeleteHi Peter...Yes, I know the whole story about Flo and her baby. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI can't go there today...too sad.
Diane Fossey and Jane Goodall are my heroes, among a few others, most notably E.O. Wilson!
I would LOVE to hear Jane Goodall speak. I will make sure I do that before she passes. On my bucket list fo' shizzle!!
Here is a link to Jane Goodall's speaking events. Nothing planned for Boston so far this year, but definitely keep on top of this: http://www.janegoodall.org/see-jane
ReplyDeleteI've also heard Dr. Wilson a couple of times. One of the great advantages to living near a major American city. He is also well worth seeing if you have the opportunity.
Wow. I'm so envious of you seeing BOTH of my heroes. Yikes...
ReplyDeleteI still have most of my flowers!! The yellow mums are still going strong! I love them! So cheery!! : )
thanks again, Pedro!
