The Winter Funks

Boy, OH, boy. I don't know how everyone else is doing during this long, cold winter, but I'm officially in a funk.

The weather has literally been the ultimate PITS recently. Today is sort of do-able with the nice sunny sky out there, but yesterday was quite seriously one of the more miserable days in recent memory. It rained, freezing rain, ALL.DAY.LONG. It was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had in a while, I must admit! Walking the dogs was downright treacherous. Under the newly fallen snow was a nice layer of ice. And, add freezing rain to the ice? Oh, it's quite the scene, man. It was really, really icky.

So, add to the obscenely gross weather, lack of carbs, a continued angry visit from Aunt Flo, raging hormones and a cranky husband? Recipe for a huge case of the yucks. Not the ha-ha kind of yucks, either. These are the Yucky YUCKs. The winter blues.

At least the dogs have been enjoying this winter...Look at these adorable doggies! Here they are asking to come in (after being out for quite a while - look at all that snow!):

Shaking it off!
They get all excited and flippy when they first come in from being out in the snow! It's all very fun, for some odd reason!

Here's Sadie's hairdo after being out:
If that is not cute, I don't know what is! Her hair gets all spikey on her head! Adorable!

And here's another one of her face - doesn't she look more alert?
We'd like to think this drug she's been on for two weeks is making a difference in her dementia. She seems more alert to me, anyway. She's remembering how to go down stairs again, so that's a bonus! And she's only pooped inside one time (two nights ago), as opposed to the week before she started the drug when she pooed three times in inappropriate places and peed next to the Christmas tree...Oy vey.

Anyway, she continues to be somewhat pitiful. She's still terribly slow on our walks (and slow is a nice term. She makes sloths seem downright spastic.). Here she is asleep in her dog dish:

Pitiful, right?

Unfortunately, that's about all I can muster for your reading pleasure today. Sorry it's not more pleasurable and filled with pretty flowers and stuff...I do have some pretty dried things that are on their way for a client - we're going shopping for planters next week and then I'll do up the arrangements in the planters for her. Will take pictures...

Hope you are all staying warm and dry. We are supposed to get pummeled with another 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow. Oh, JOY!

  1. I agree. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!

    Dear Sweet Sadie.
Just had my Lady all 7 pounds of her to the vet for her Rabies vaccination.
Teeth need work, cleaning and pulling.
She's approximately 12 and they are going to give me a bargain.
Special next month is dental care and it will only cost me around $400. cough! cough!
If it buys her more time..she is worth it.
Last cleaning and pulling was 4 years ago.
We must love our dogs. :0)
